Finding Skilled Architects in Your Area By Gary Milke
Architects produce works of art with the buildings they design. We still marvel at the master architects of the past. You may not be planning on building a timeless work of art, but you do want to choose a well qualified architect to design your home. Whether it will be simple or elaborate, taking time to compare architects and choose the best one for you is well worth the effort.
You can find architects who work in your area by looking in the yellow pages and by using the Internet. Online resources are especially helpful, since the Internet gets you access to more information faster. There are online databases of architects arranged by city where you can quickly locate dozens of qualified architects in your area.
Another good way to find a reliable architect is to speak with people you know; friends, family, co-workers, etc. Asking them about what architects they know or have worked with in the past is a great idea.

Once you describe your project, you will receive complete profiles of your matching professionals including ratings and reviews from past customers, pictures of their work and special offers made available only to our customers.
Remember that not all architects do the same kind of work; some specialize in certain forms or styles of architecture. It would thus be wise for you to do some investigation into the local architects you find. You may be able to find photos of projects they have worked on in the past by searching for them online.
Once you have located a variety of different architects, you can begin calling them to discuss your project. Before you do this, though, you should already have your ideas clearly in mind. That way you will accomplish more during these conversations. Being prepared to speak about your building plans will also earn you the respect of the architects you speak with.
Make sure to ask architects questions about their credentials. For example, where did they study architecture? Do they have a degree? How many years of experience do they have? What other local projects have they worked on? Can they offer you a list of references?
By doing some research into architects in your area and asking them questions before you hire them, you will be able to find a great architect. Any time you spend doing so will be time well spent.
