The presence of mold in your home is certainly not a good thing. In many areas, especially those with humid climates, this is a common issue. It is important that you go about removing mold in the proper way so that you do not have to deal with the problem on repeated occasions. Mold removal must be done properly to protect your home and your health.
Mold removal begins by isolating where the mold is actually growing. This is not always easy, since mold can hide inside walls and even inside pipes in some instances. The next step is the actual removal process. There are several ways to go about cleaning mold out of your home. Any contaminated materials in your home will need to be disposed of and replaced, since just cleaning them is often not enough. Unfortunately, mold can go dormant for a time only to resurface later.
Water boosts mold growth, so using a wet vacuum to remove moisture is essential. Do not use wet vacuums on dry surfaces or materials, since this may actual worsen your problem by spreading mold spores around the home.

Dry and non-porous surfaces that have been damaged by mold can be cleaned using detergent and water. Since moisture helps mold grow, mold removal methods that utilize water need to be dried right away. When possible, you should scrape mold off of surfaces before you scrub them with mold removing detergent.
