Hiring Qualified Plumbing Contractors By Gary Milke

Hiring someone to work inside your home requires quite a bit of forethought.  You don’t want just anyone inside your house.  Besides that, you want to feel certain that the contractor you hire will do a high quality job.  When it comes to hiring plumbing contractors, finding one who is qualified does not have to be difficult.

Start by looking in the yellow pages and on the Internet.  You can find many useful online tools for locating plumbers in your area.  It is best to begin narrowing down your selection by choosing a few contractors and then comparing them.

First, make a list of at least three plumbing contractors.  Collect their phone numbers and email addresses so that you can contact them easily and quickly.  Then, think about what information you need from them in order to make a decision on which to hire.

You are under no obligation when using this independent service and quotes are always complimentary.

For example, what local experience do they have?  Ask for a reference so that you can find out how previous clients feel about their work.  Are they licensed?  You do not want to hire an unlicensed plumbing contractor because they could end up causing serious damage to your home.

Understanding your plumbing contractor’s insurance is very important.  In some cases, if a contractor works in your home without liability insurance, your homeowner’s insurance covers them if they are injured while working there.  Clearly, this could become a serious hassle for you.  Therefore, make sure that your contractor has any and all essential insurance before they ever begin working in your home.

When comparing contractors, you will need to give them a plan of your project so that they can produce an estimate for you.  If your project undergoes any changes, be sure to let the contractor know.  You should work out pricing before hiring anyone or beginning to work.  Disputes over prices can become extremely unpleasant and can be avoided with good planning.

Selecting a plumbing contractor to work in your home does not have to be a painful process.  Ensure that they have good credentials before you hire them.  Stay informed on their progress throughout the project.  Being a choosy customer will ultimately make you a happy homeowner.

I would like a quotation on unhooking an old dishwasher and hooking up a new one in the same location.

I had a leaky toilet upon flushing and figured it had to be an old wax ring needing replacing. When I removed the toilet and tried putting on a new toilet flange the part that attaches to the actual sewer pipe was warped and the new flange would not sit properly on it (also the screw holes were off center making the toilet sit crooked)!! Whoever built it before knew this and didn’t care and I think the toilet has been leaking awhile. The floor is still hard but soft in one spot, perhaps where the water is pooling. I am also getting some backup in all the basement drains but I realize that could be a tree root issue and i will get the city to auger the pipes. Can anyone help The house was built in the early 60`s so plumbing is not great! Thx!!
